Northern Illinois Society for Human Resource Management

Welcome to NISHRM

The mission of NISHRM is to advance, through mutual and cooperative efforts, the knowledge, training, efficiency, expertise and ability of individual members in the profession of Human Resources. NISHRM was formed in 1942 as the Lake County Employment Managers Association. The name was changed to NIAPA in 1979 when the group was chartered as the local Chapter of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). In 1990, the name was changed again to more accurately reflect the changes that had occurred in the HR profession, and in 1994, the NISHRM name was adapted to better reflect the affiliation with SHRM. The individual members of NISHRM represent Lake and Northern Cook counties. Both industrial and service organizations, as well as HR consultants, are represented in the membership.

NISHRM is completely organized by volunteer members. We are always seeking HR professionals to get involved, not just by participating in meetings and networking events, but in helping to plan and organize our activities. Whether you might consider a formal role on the board of directors, or involvement in a specific project, we need your expertise and energy. Please contact a board member for information.

Meeting New Challenges for Employee Engagement:
Keeping Top Talent Retained

What is the cost of losing talent?
What are cost effective ways to engage and retain employees
?
What do organizations and leaders need to do to increase
engagement across the board?

Attracting and developing the right talent to drive revenue during slow growth can prove to be a near impossible task if you lack some of the key components that motivate and retain frontline performers.  If an organization's training and management efforts are misaligned, employees will wander away from company strategies as they lack the knowledge of the business goals and objectives.  But, fully integrated talent management with performance mapping can prevent both employees and management from miscommunication.  What is entailed in effective performance mapping and which of the practices have given companies remarkable results?

Join us for an engaging panel discussion
You will walk away with:

  • Cost effective ways to engage and retain employees
  • What organizations and leaders need to do to increase engagement across the board
  • Ability to leverage breakthrough development tools to drive engagement

Our Panel includes Danielle Henderson of Blessing White
    Kathleen Kleffel-Finis of CDW
    Anil Saxena of Cube 2.14
    Loren Palma of CVS/Caremark
Our Moderator will be Claudia Nevoral
